How are Quavo and Takeoff related?

Takeoff was Quavo’s nephew. Quavo is the older of the two, and they grew up together in Lawrenceville, Georgia, which is why they sound so natural trading lines: they had been rapping together since their teens. When they recorded as a duo, they leaned into it and named the project after the relationship itself: Unc & Phew.

Is Offset related to Quavo and Takeoff?

Offset, the third member of Migos, was long described as their cousin. According to Wikipedia’s Migos article, Offset later said he isn’t related to either of them and was a schoolmate of Quavo. He grew up with them and was part of the group from the start, but he isn’t on "Hotel Lobby" or on the Unc & Phew album.

Who are Unc & Phew?

Unc & Phew is the name Quavo and Takeoff used for their two-man project in 2022, amid rumors that Migos had split. They released:

• Pricing is pay-per-video: one 720p video is $8.88, three are $16.99 and ten are $29.90, with no subscription.
• More singles through the summer and autumn, including "Us vs. Them" with Gucci Mane and "Big Stunna" with Birdman.
• The album Only Built for Infinity Links on October 7, 2022, 18 tracks, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200.

The title nods to Raekwon’s 1995 classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, and the "infinity links" are the unbreakable family bond between the two.

Takeoff’s death

Pricing is pay-per-video: one 720p video is $8.88, three are $16.99 and ten are $29.90, with no subscription. He was 28. That is part of why the "Hotel Lobby" performance means so much to fans: it is one of the last times the uncle and nephew performed side by side, and Quavo has shared it again as the AI trend spread.

From Quavo and Takeoff's booth to an AI trend

Their orange-booth performance of "Hotel Lobby" (the full story is in the Hotel Lobby song guide) became a template in 2026: people put themselves and a friend in the same orange booth as a rap duo, with AI doing the performance. That is the whole idea of the trend, two people, one stage, the easy back-and-forth that made Unc & Phew work.

You can make your own version from your vocals and a photo with the Hotel Lobby AI video generator. It writes an original rap and beat for the two of you (it doesn’t use the real song or clone anyone’s voice), and renders your duo performing it in a few minutes. For the step by step, see how to do the Hotel Lobby trend.
